In the name of love for math!
The Enthusiasm for Maths
“In the name of love for math!”
A sentence that was sent to me by Mr. Martin Krzywinski, a scientist who appreciates the beauty of mathematics. Years ago, I was so interested in a mathematical artwork I saw online that I wanted to use it as a present for someone whose life is spent on maths. I sent an email to the creator, Mr. Martin Krzywinski, to ask for his permission to do so. He didn’t hesitate to accept it, and when I thanked him, he replied with that sentence.
“In the name of love for math!”
Please take a moment and think about the sentence very well.
Maths and AI
From solving the problems using matrices, or theory-based discoveries, to building the world that we know now with the AI, do you think that AI understands it? Following the curiosity, the passion and the desire to discover, even if we don’t understand the sequences well enough, drove us to who we are now. Will AI be involved in any of these processes?
Following the updates of the Navier-Stokes equation, I was like who am I to comment or have an opinion to share? But it causes heartache to see what’s happening in the field that I love.
A Personal Philosophy
I’m just a human being who cares deeply about mathematics. My passion for it has been the driving force behind my journey. It shapes the way I think, guides the choices I make, and continuously fuels my pursuit of knowledge and innovation. To me, mathematics is not merely a field of study but a framework for reasoning, discovery, and problem-solving that extends to every aspect of my life, of our lives actually.
Mathematics is a form of pure art, and the more you understand it, the more you appreciate its beauty. Even if you didn’t understand its concepts, it comes with philosophy, which helps you in estimating its marvelousness. Whether you think it’s invented or discovered, we both agree that with all of our current knowledge, there’s always more to explore and even more to prove in mathematics.
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
Following our curiosity leads to those explorations, and asking the right questions evolves that curiosity. To build on our ancients’ work, you have to actually know that it exists in the first place and comprehend it. Innovating something new is sparked by both the curiosity and the existing knowledge. There are breakthroughs every minute, mostly driven by AI. And understanding the fundamentals is what builds the future to validate those discoveries.
Beyond the Black Box
Since day one, I’ve always wanted to accelerate my potential using AI, but thinking about it now, it’s meaningless. Everything we do using AI, if we don’t understand it, it won’t matter. I learned that the hard way, yes. But I’m grateful that I had the time to understand the world we are in first, and think about it deeply and read more, and that opened my eyes. I invite you to take your moment. Appreciate the advances we have now that our ancients didn’t. We are not in a race. Chase novelty, not being the first of a pointless, uncreative output of a black box. Imagine the new insights you can build. Not the AI. You. It starts within ourselves.
Till the next time…
